Ali Freedlund Solstice Poem

Hope you don’t mind I share this, Ali.

Swirling Earth,

home to all of us,

I rock you this night,

deep healing sleep on your journey

to bring light.

Moon and Stars, please guard

this spinning orb

that it not falter

despite

the madness of falling

bodies, of

failings.

Oh people,

may we abandon our teams,

return to

Earth,

one family,

and let the little

squabbles about who

loves more be the game

and the bigger liftings of

each other

be the setting.

Tonight and every night

may we

lay our faces,

our bodies on Earth,

absorb again the current

of grace.

That we may rise,

slide our arms into

the coat that warms with

each breath,

astonishing even the clouds

with the reach of our hands.
